According to California Board report May almond shipments totaled at 158.3 million pounds compared to 170.7 million pounds in 2017 (a drop of 7.3%).
One of the reasons for the decline in export shipments and commitments is the high price of almonds in May 2018 which made some buyers take a time out in the hope of lower prices.
Short-term pricing policy will depend on how soon the purchasing activity will recover. Given the unmet demand, this can happen very soon.
