Almond Board of California has released the August Position Report with shipments tallying +154.2 million pounds compared to 168.5 million pounds last year for a -8.5% percent decrease.
The August shipments had been expected to be lower due to the following factors
- harvest was off to a slower start this season (similar situation was in 2012)
- currency issues

Currently, 20.8% of the new crop has been sold, or 24.3%, taking into account carry-in. Total commitments amount to 233,600 tons against 3,07082 tons. in 2017. Total new sales are also lower than in 2017. In August, new sales were 1,07955 tons.
