According to the European Peach Producers Associationand nectarine (EuroPech) the production has decreased by 11% in 2018 compared with 2017 (7% lower than the average for the last 5 years) due to adverse weather conditions such as frost and hail during the flowering season in some parts of Spain , Italy and France. Production declined in Spain (-14%), France (-16%) and Italy (-10%). However, in Greece there is an increase in production (+ 20%).
Exports in 2018 decreased by 20% whereas EU exports were slightly higher in 2017, such a decrease was due to the decline in production and difficulties encountered in the export market.
